Rex K & The Snake Pit Philharmonic is an Atlanta Based, one man, Avantgarde Rock band. The sole member Rex K is primarily a pianist and vocalist but as of now plays or programs all parts heard on the project's upcoming tracks.
The “band” was created when Rex K reportedly had an encounter with extraterrestrial beings who struck him with the divine lighting of inspiration while walking home from high school circa the summer of 2023, since then he has dedicated his life to the arts.
Inspiration for this project comes from a very wide variety of genres, though influence from the structures of orchestral and jazz big band music is present in the process and part writing of all upcoming songs. Many of the project's upcoming songs include dense vocal harmonies, orchestral interludes (classical strings, winds, mallet percussion etc), and experimental percussion arrangements using both drum kit sounds and found item percussion; all alongside a classic keys, guitar, bass, and drums rhythm section.
